Tips for Getting A Date on New Year's

Going solo to a New Year's Eve party can prove to be more than a drag. With most people paired off and coupled up, letting the stroke of midnight pass without beautiful lips to kiss is depressing to say the least!

Don't worry my friends, I have some excellent tips for you guys out there who are trying to muster the nerve to ask out a special lady for a night of New Year's Eve wining, dining, dancing and romancing. It is possible to land a fantastic date with a wonderful lady, if you act fast and are sincere. If it's a first date, don't necessarily expect too much by way of fireworks, but who knows, that midnight kiss could lead to something spectacular!

Without further adieu, here are my suggestions for you guys out there who are looking at going stag on New Year's. Here's how to ask the object of your affection:

• Romantic gesture. If you really want to capture her attention with your invitation to a New Year's Eve party, say it with a present attached. Send your intended a beautiful gift basket, a box of gourmet chocolates or a bouquet of flowers with a personalized invite attached. There is no better way to show her you are a classy guy than to formalize the date request.

• Lunch, coffee teaser. If you're unsure if she really has an interest in you and you don't want to crash and burn too hard, ask her out for an innocent lunch or cup of gourmet coffee first. If she says "yes," you're on the right track.

• Just do it! If you're reasonably certain there's at least a little bit of a spark, just ask her. The only thing you have to fear is fear itself, fellas! (Well, that, and watching 100 other couples smooch on New Year's!)

If you don't have a date in mind for the big night, start looking guys. There are plenty of ladies out there who are in the same boat as you. Who knows, if you work up the nerve and start looking around, you might just find the one!
