Don't Forget The Bedroom When Decking The Halls

There's nothing written in stone that says holiday decorating needs to stop after the tree has been put up and the halls are decked. This time of year is perfect for making a bedroom a personal retreat for two with a little fun, a bit of festivity and lots of romance added into the mix.

 

If creating the perfect holiday retreat – whether it be a little naughty or very nice – is on tap, there are some great ways to make this happen. The real trick is making sure the decorating tickles personal fancy. (It doesn't hurt to make sure it tickles your special someone's fancy, too!)

There are some wonderful ideas for transforming a bedroom until a personal holiday retreat. Here are some of my favorites:

• Satin sheets sprinkled with rose petals. Nothing screams the holidays quite like satin red, white or green sheets and a comforter. Soft, welcoming and silky, satin is perfect for a "nice" room and even better for those who love the feel of its sheen while they're being a little naughty.

• Christmas Lights. Adding just the right amount of drama and even romance to a room, holiday lights are worth stringing up in a few spots. Consider around the windows, doors and even draped over the bed for just the right festive tough.

• Scented Candles. If lights are a little more dramatic than you enjoy, go for a more subtle look with holiday candles. Sweet holiday scents or even seductively beautiful aromatherapy candles really add a splash of style to a decorating scheme.

• A miniature Christmas tree. Who says a home can only have one tree? Consider putting up and decking out a second one for those special gifts you don't want others to see your special someone open! (Being bad can be so much fun!)
